Ieri pomeriggio, al Palais des Nations di Ginevra, si è tenuta una conferenza sul tema della crisi finanziaria e del suo impatto sulla governance mondiale, che ha visto la partecipazione di numerosi rappresentanti degli Stati, NGO, addetti stampa e studenti.
Durante la conferenza, sono intervenuti Dominique Strauss-Kahn, direttore generale del Fondo Monetario Internazionale, e Pascal Lamy, direttore generale dell’Organizzazione Mondiale del Commercio. Il primo speaker ha presentato il ruolo centrale svolto dal FMI al fine di sostenere all countries, particularly those in developing countries, in achieving economic stability. Over the years, the International Monetary Fund is subject to change and attempts at renewal, but to date the guidance is to return to the principles that are the source of his mission, or create economic stability that allows to build peace at the global level.
Pascal Lamy, however, remembered as the promotion of free trade represents one of the founding values \u200b\u200bof the World Trade Organization, which is proposed as an institution aimed at ensuring social cooperation at the global level. In an increasingly 'globalized, the only way to maintain this balance sustainable world is in fact based on consistency and trust between countries.
The presentations of the two speakers were followed by a lively and interesting debate among those present. As a whole, the conference proved a valuable opportunity to better understand the global economic situation and the immediate impact that this has on our daily lives.
